Mead is a delicious and wonderful wine that is made from honey instead of grapes and is very easy to make. However, you’d have to purchase few items like glass carboy and airlock for getting started. Ingredients that you will have to purchase from the market: One Gallon Spring Water A bag of balloons large enough to stretch over the mouth of jug A box of raisins One packet of Fleishmann’s Yeast Three pounds honey that is pure and unprocessed One Orange
Process:
Pour half of water in the container and slice up orange and put these slices, 25 raisins, yeast and honey in the jug. Pour some more water so that water level just an inch below the top and cap the top and then shake well. Poke a small hole in the balloon and remove the cap of the jug and put this balloon over its mouth. Put some tape or rubber band around the neck of the jug to keep the balloon in place.
The balloon will start inflating within 24 hours and this indicates that yeast is on the job and converting the contents in the jug into wine. If balloon gets bigger, you’d need to poke another hole in it so that all gases that are forming in the jug escape easily.
In about a 3-4 weeks time, large portion of ferment will be over and this balloon will limp back. At this point, you can taste the contents to see as to how the taste is coming along. The wine will take couple of months more to taste delicious!
